Sd_Tim57Bear sighting trip without the bears Fun flight, good host at the destination but no bears. The problem is that they have a tight schedule so you don’t have an opportunity to give it time to see if any bears decide to show up. MaryMy husband and I had one of the best experiences of our lives. We flew out of Ketchikan to an island where our guide Kim took us through a trail to a bear watching platform. We had to wait a while but we finally saw a momma bear with her two cubs. She caught a huge salmon and the three of them ate it right in front of us! Kim was amazing. StevenAfter meeting Travis we knew Coastal Edge would be who we trusted to help us design and remodel our kitchen. Travis was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. He put my wife's vision into a design that turned out to be incredible. The time he spent listening to our desires and needs was not matched by any other company we spoke too. He was on site for much of the installation but always following up to see if everything was good. Communication was paramount for me as I was the so called GC for this new kitchen from a gut job to completion. Great quality cabinets at a very reasonable price. I can see why he has so many 5 star reviews and I'd have given him more if I could. Easy to work with. If you're in the market for cabinets and some help in designing it, I would highly recommend speaking to Travis before making your final decision. We are now at the beginning stages of remodeling our bathroom and no doubt Travis will be involved again. Good luck on your project!Posted on Google

KristiTop notch If you are considering a flight of any kind in Ketchikan this is the company to choose! Everyone we dealt with from the first inquiry call to the end was amazing. After reading reviews I had narrowed it down to two companies and called both. The warm response I got at seawind prompted me to book. We were given very clear instructions for pick up and were driven from Ward Cove to the seaplane location. We then had a wonderful day with Russ and Kim. The real kicker came at the end when Lesley, the owner, noticed us stranded at the dock and drove us to the shuttle bus location and sent a cab to make sure we had a ride back to the port. CarolAwesome experience flying in the seaplane and landing on a lake when we were in Ketchikan. Seeing Misty Fjords Alaska from above is amazing. The vintage seaplane from 1956 was so cool and the ride was extremely smooth. Definitely a great experience. I booked directly with Seawind. The cost was much lower than some of the other similar tours. They coordinated the pickup/return from/to the cruise ship terminal. We had a wonderful flight seeing experience with Seawind Aviation. Setup and meeting : We booked this excursion a week ahead. There was a last minute time change (first from 8.30 to 9.30am, and then back to 8.30). Time change happened for a friend of ours as well . What i want to say is - Don’t be alarmed if this happens - the fine people at Seawind know what they are doing, and will help you get from and back the cruise ship as needed. The office is almost like a log cabin, very cozy and welcoming ! Comfortable seating while you wait for your plane. 2 lovely dogs liven up the place 🙂 Experience - This is a once in a lifetime kind of experience. You get to truly experience the vast expanse of the “last frontier” with mountains, numerous lakes, waterfalls. The highlight undoubtedly was the water landing . this took place at one of the lakes high up in the mountains. the pristine surroundings are a joy to behold . Note - water landing is not included by default. please make sure you have this if you want while booking . We went on a plane with 6 passengers + pilot. everyone got a window seat. we had great weather, but in poor weather, some people could get a bit sick due to the rocking of the plane. Would love to do this again, but it is a steep price as you could expect.Posted on Google
SteveI can’t say enough good things about Seawind Aviation. They went above and beyond taking care of our group of 18 on our fishing trip to Prince of Wales Island. Moving 18 people is one thing—moving 18 people along with all of our luggage, fishing gear, and then getting us back with an absolute ton of fish is another. Seawind handled every part of it professionally and made the entire process seem easy. The communication, organization, and service were outstanding from start to finish. They made sure our entire group and all of our gear got safely to the lodge, and when it was time to head home, they handled the return trip—including all those boxes of fish—without missing a beat. The floatplane flights were also an incredible part of the Alaska experience. The scenery was spectacular, and the pilots made us feel comfortable and well taken care of the entire way. If you're heading to a remote fishing lodge in Southeast Alaska, especially with a large group and a lot of gear, I would highly recommend Seawind Aviation. They didn't just provide transportation—they helped make our entire trip a success. Five stars and a huge thank-you to the entire Seawind Aviation team. They were more than accommodating to us and our father with a bum knee, even going as far as dropping us closer to our ship. Great outfit. AnnetteIncredible tour Incredible bucket list tour. Professional, easy to get to from cruise ship. Cheaper than cruise ship. Had the most amazing time with knowledgeable, funny, warm Kim from uk. Can’t believe we saw 2 sets of mothers and babies, one set of teeny bear cubs and another playing out a whole drama of teaching the baby cub how to cross the water. BruceOur Group flies with SEAWIND every year for 10+ years when we come fishing in Alaska. The views were just stunning, and the experience of landing on the remote lake was amazing! To top it off, we were able to see Dall sheep on the top of a mountain and a whale along the shoreline on our way back prior to landing. Everything was incredibly smooth - the booking/confirmation was seamless and the team was communicative, the pick up and drop off was easy and clear, and the flight itself was great. Being in the air over the fjords and water was truly unbelievable and breathtaking. I booked this particular experience because it would land on a lake mid-flight, and that was just so cool. NicoleWe had an AMAZING experience with SeaWind. My husband, myself, and our 8 year old son booked the Misty Fjords with a landing. I highly recommend this. Being able to land in the middle of nowhere and take in the scenery from ground level was awesome. The pilot was knowledgeable and played good music in the background during the flight. JackI can't think of a better place to take a floatplane trip. Misty Fjords was spectacular. I highly recommend doing a trip on a plane that holds only six people (more personal). I also recommend a trip with a landing (1.5 hours or more). It was so nice getting out of the plane on the floats in such a serene place (and sometimes there are bear there also). Let's just say that the majesty and beauty of this area was so overwhelming that I may have cried, once we returned. I was overcome with what my eyes were seeing and how unique this was to experience with my family. Our pilot, Steve, was amazing and tilted the plane in different directions to get better views of orca pods in the water and mountain goats on land. We even had a lake landing! I chuckled when he told everyone it was time to get out (which I knew would happen) while my family thought he was joking. It was fun to walk outside on the pontoons and take in even more beauty - and thankfully no one fell in! Leslie, Kim and Jeff were also so incredible to work with. Jeff was our first point of contact once in Ketchikan and picked us up from the port. Such a friendly guy! Leslie assisted with the private charter set up and coordination, months prior and Kim took care of our party in the office before we met Steve. DonnazachmanWonderful Misty Fjords experience and excellent customer service! This was one of the best experiences! To anyone traveling to Ketchikan, I recommend flying into the Misty Fjords. The beauty is just breathtaking and should not be missed! When I called to book, due to our scheduled cruise ship arrival time and our already scheduled Lumberjack Show time, Leslie (the owner) told me she could do a flight time which was not posted on their website. When I asked of why it wasn’t posted, she said that she was creating a special flight time for us as she didn’t want us to miss the Misty Fjords experience. I was floored that she would do this! Then we find out the night before our scheduled arrival that our ship was docking several hours earlier than originally scheduled. I called them early that morning (when I got cell signal) and asked if an earlier flight would be possible so as to not have a tight time window between the flight and the Lumberjack show. Leslie was so accommodating and said absolutely and even offered to have Crystal pick us up at our cruise terminal to save us from walking to their normal Visitors Center pick up spot. Overall, the flight experience was absolutely fabulous!!! Mike was very knowledgeable and gave a wonderful tour of landmarks during the flight. The ride was very smooth and it was obvious that safety was extremely important in all aspects of the trip. Everyone at this organization was so personable, friendly and wonderful! BettyjaneMy Pleasant Afternoon Flight The fee was reasonable, although I did not take a tour. It was an air taxi ride from Metlakatla to Ketchikan Airport. I was stranded and had to make my flight in Ketchikan. They graciously accommodated me. It was a beautiful, smooth ride. The pilot pointed out a whale in the Metlakatla waters. The ramp from the dock to the airport was not steep, whereas the 2 ramps taking the ferry are. Plus, you have to take a taxi from where the ferry lands and take another ferry to the airport. My flight bypassed all that. So convenient. The pilot was friendly and helpful. The staff in the office where I made my reservation over the phone were also friendly and professional. Super communicative staff who responded promptly to all my inquiries and the pilot was wonderful, as well. Length of the tour was great and the water landing really makes it something special. Just the right number of passengers so everyone has a window seat and is comfortable in the plane, not cramped at all. I was with a cruise and by the time I'd gotten back from this tour, the cruise line had cancelled all their flight excursions due to weather. So I was certainly the lucky one. TraceySpectacular experience. From the booking process through to the logistics of collecting us, the incredible flight, and dropping us back at Berth 4, it was all fantastic. There were about 10 passengers on our plane, and we all had a window seat with out of this world views on both sides. We landed on one of the lakes and everyone had an opportunity to climb out onto the platform that runs along each side. MalloryThis was such a cool experience! Would recommend. We stopped in Ketchikan on our Princess cruise and I found SeaWind Aviation through some google searches of things to do in the area. It did not disappoint! Sol - our pilot - was super knowledgeable about the area and made everyone feel so comfortable right from the start. We had 6 in our group, and us + Sol was a fully packed plane. The scenery was STUNNING. The takeoff and touchdown were a lot smoother than I had anticipated. We also had fantastic greeters at the office (two office pups that loved the butt scratches). Such a great experience that we'll be talking about for years to come! only note: I probably should have brought and worn ear plugs, as the plane is loud! You'll have a headset to wear, but the ambient noise is still pretty loud. JaneneA once in a lifetime experience to see Misty Fjords National Monument in Alaska for me and my mom. We chose the 90-min tour with landing. I didn’t realize we would be landing on the water. It was incredible! The ride was easy with fantastic views. CallieSeaWind Aviation to the vacation rescue…Unfortunately, the main tour we had booked in Juneau for our Alaskan trip was cancelled due to weather. I was traveling with my daughter, and was trying to make the trip as memorable as possible for her. SeaWing Aviation literally fit us in at the last minute. The pick up from the cruise port was great, everyone was friendly, and the building where we waited for a plane ride was clean and comfortable with a few drinks. (I was do thirsty and appreciated the water available.) My daughter loved the two golden retrievers they had at their dock as well! That was a bonus. It was a great experience and very beautiful. The scenery was fantastic and my husband was in the co-pilot’s seat so his vantage point was spectacular. Of course, you are seated according to weight so you have no control over where you sit, but the best views are near the front where the big windows are. I was in the back and could see but my view was not as good as the front seats with the double windows. Still a great experience. Our pilot, Eric, was fantastic too, giving information and telling us what we were seeing as we flew. ReallyWarm & inviting flight A friendly warm welcome greeted us as we entered. The Dehavilland Beaver looked well maintained and had plenty of legroom for our long legs. I was happy the cabin was heated as light planes in Australia, (that I have flown in) do not have heating. Agility and a good sense of balance are required to get out onto the float in the middle of the lake, though the photos and the feeling of “being-there” make it worthwhile. I find the trick to avoid feeling sick is a full stomach. My first time in a light plane was on an empty stomach :( We landed had a steak & chips lunch and returned to do full acrobatic manoeuvres with no problems. AmandaOh my goodness Seawind is the BEST. We came to visit on a cruise and wanted to go on a seaplane adventure. I booked tickets for 6 people about 3 months in advance and Lesley was amazing to work with. She was so kind and answered all of my questions related to the trip and flight. We opted for the 1.5 hour misty fjord flight with a landing in the fjords. At the time the cost was $325/person. I know prices have gone up since I booked. Service was amazing. On top of being our pilots, Steve and Anthony also served as naturalists and tour guides for the duration of our flight. The plane only takes 6 riders plus the pilot so it's not your typical cruise/excursion crush of bodies and confusion. ChrissyThis was the best excursion my mom and I had taken during our cruise to Alaska!! I'm so happy that it all worked out perfectly. A few weeks before our cruise, I contacted Lesley to ask about their handicap accommodations as my mom had fallen a few years ago which left her with a broken shoulder and hurt foot so it's a bit more difficult for her to get in and out of cars/planes/trains. Lesley assured me that they have ramps to the dock/onto the plane and was confident that my mom would be able to enjoy the flight. She also offered a great deal to my request of an AAA rate so I booked right away for our day in Ketchikan. When we arrived at the cruise port, Lesley picked us up in their van right by the port (no need to have to find our way to their dock). This excursion was a HUGE surprise for my mom's birthday so I never actually let her know what I had planned for us until she saw the seaplane advertised on the side of the van. I knew she would never partake in such an adventurous excursion if I told her ahead of time. By looking at the shocked expression on my mom's face, Lesley was so warm and comforting to my mom's jitters of flying in a seaplane. Even the fellow passengers who would be flying along with us were so nice and friendly -- they tried their best to keep my mom's mind off her nerves Once we got to the dock, we met our awesome pilot Steve who helped my mom into the seaplane with the use of the ramp. Easy peesy! We got to wear these great headsets where we could hear each other ask questions, the pilot provide feedback about what we're seeing, and incredible music that fit the sights (ie. Jurassic Park soundtrack). It really made the entire flight enjoyable. BUT THE VIEWS! They were awe-inspiring and like nothing I've ever seen. We flew throughout a part of the Misty Fjords and even stopped at a lake dock for about 20 mins that had incredible views too. This flight was awesome and an once-in-a-lifetime experience! SO happy my mom got to experience this with me because by the time she got up in the air, her nerves settled and she loved every second of the flight. MarichelleI am so glad that we found SeaWind. We opted to book a shore excursion outside the cruise because it was less expensive and offered a better time. The reservation process was very easy, and the confirmation letter included clear instructions where to meet. We called Lesley as soon as we docked, and she called back to confirm our time. It was raining, and the time could have been adjusted due to the weather. Thankfully, the tour was not canceled. We were picked up by their staff and taken to their dock which happens to be near an eagle landing. There were 4 eagles just sitting by the shore. Our tour consisted of 4 passengers and our pilot Steve, the owner. He had 30 years of flying experience all in Ketchikan. I immediately felt like we were in good hands. Take off and landing was smooth. The flight though rainy at times was beautiful. Steve included music in the background and spoke about the topography and animals when appropriate. He said that rain was the best way to see how Misty Fjord got its name. It was beautiful! Sadly the trip ended. Leslie took us back to port and dropped us off where we liked. She also offered a recommendation for a good place to eat. We were happy that we went with this family-run operation. Learning about the area from a true local is the way to go. JanetDefinitely the highlight of our trip. My husband, myself and two kids (11, 13) chartered a flight over the Misty Fjords. Leslie was amazing, working around our tight cruise schedule and ensuring the flight would be appropriate for the kids. Steve was our pilot and he did a great job pointing out interesting things. When he spotted a pod of whales he circled overhead so everyone in the plane got an amazing view! We were all able to see the full grown whales as well as the babies with them. We then flew over ice blue lakes, forests and amazing waterfalls. Steve found mountain goats and tried really hard to find a bear. It was early in the season but at least he tried. We flew down low going out and up high coming back so it was a very different view. We all had headphones so we could talk to each other.
